Research Interests
How do we perceive the world around us? It is
believed that about half
of
the human brain is involved in visual perception. Research in my
group focuses on mid-level vision, the link between the processing of
elementary
features in the image and the awareness of natural scenes. Current
research
topics include three-dimensional perception (pictorial
cues, motion cues and binocular disparities), cross-modal perception
(vision-audition), temporal dynamics of perception (in particular
bistable perception), and probabilistic modelling of perception
(Bayesian models). More details can be found on the research web page.
Teaching
I have taught experimental
psychology at the University of Glasgow and product design at the
Glasgow School of Arts. I now give
a few lectures in the masters
of cognitive sciences from the Ecole
Normale Supérieure, EHESS, Universités Paris 5 et Paris
6. I am also responsible for the Psychology Section of this masters of
cognitive sciences.
